A family-run care home in Haxey

Nicholas House is in the village of Haxey, on the Isle of Axholme. We are part of a small group of six homes that work together to provide the best possible care. As a family-run business with over 20 years' experience in the caring community, you can be assured that we will care for those that you care about.

It is always possible to find a special place to be comfortable at Nicholas House, whether it is with the company of others or just a quiet time to enjoy the peaceful gardens.

Our accommodation consists of well furnished single rooms on the ground and first floor, accessible by lift. Some bedrooms have en-suite facilities, of which four have a full shower. All rooms have space for personal items such as photographs and ornaments to create a cosier, familiar environment.

The Coach House wing has been specially designed for residents diagnosed with dementia. It is calm and peaceful, and has been refurbished to dementia-friendly standards to help residents find their rooms and their way around the home.

All meals are freshly prepared and cooked on the premises, with menus regularly changed to reflect personal likes, dislikes and dietary requirements. Fridays are usually fish and chips, with a traditional roast on Sundays, and residents are encouraged to make mealtimes a social event.

We provide a variety of activities, including coffee mornings, reminiscence, quizzes and dominoes. Our activity coordinator organises art and craft classes, baking, pampering sessions, entertainment and trips out, with a hairdresser visiting weekly and a chiropodist every six weeks.

We have long-serving, well-trained staff, with a team leader on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Staff undertake induction and ongoing training, including the Diploma in Health and Social Care and accredited courses such as safeguarding, dementia awareness and first aid.
